The different types of licenses for mineral water projects and why they are required

1. Small scale industries registration

  • For this, one must get a provisional SSI registration certificate(PRC) from the director general of industries of the concerned state.

2. ISI certification(BIS approved)

  • The Indian government has made BIS certification essential in consideration of public health.

3. Pollution control certificate

  • A pollution control certificate from local bodies is mandatory and each state has different rules and regulations for the certificate

4. Testing report from an authorized laboratory for raw water

  • Before sending it to the public a brief report is to be made and results are to be reported to BIS and make sure water is tested by the lab authority.

5. Pest control certification

  • To establish a mineral water plant, a pest control certification must be obtained from the relevant authorities.

6. Certificates from chemist, microbiologist

  • An in-house laboratory is required, and it should be well-equipped to perform all physical, chemical, and microbiological tests specified in IS: 3025. It must be carried out by qualified chemists or microbiologists.

7. Trademark

  • Before you start your business, you must protect your brand name since many identical names in the water package market mislead consumers. You must apply for a trademark on your brand name for this.
